September 11, 2017 Regular Board Meeting Minutes with Salary Publication

On September 11, 2017, the regular meeting of the Hill City Board of Education was held at 6:00 p.m. in the high school building room #202. The following members were present: President Owen Wiederhold, Mike Welu, Dennis Krull, Angie Ross. Not present: Greg Schroeder

Also present: Mike Hanson, Aimee Peyregne, Jeff Anderson, Steve Helgeland, Todd Satter, Blake Gardner, Chip Franke, Wade Ginsbach, Roxann DuBois. Patrons: Travis Eckert, Anita Atkinson, Mike Atkinson, Jeff Smith.

All motions in these minutes carried by unanimous vote unless otherwise recorded.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion by Krull, second by Welu to approve the amended September 11, 2017, agenda.

MINUTES: Motion by Krull, second by Ross to approve minutes of August 14, 2017, as submitted.

FINANCIAL REPORTS: Motion by Krull, second by Welu to approve the financial reports as presented.

CLAIMS: GENERAL FUND TOTAL: $ 393,946.63, CAPITAL OUTLAY TOTAL: $ 93,310.40, SPECIAL EDUCATION TOTAL: $ 34,418.97, FOOD SERVICE TOTAL: $ 9,143.83, FITNESS CENTER TOTAL $105.04.

Motion by Welu, second by Ross to approve the above listed claims.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST AND DISCLOSURE WAIVERS: None at this time.

EXECUTIVE SESSION: Motion by Krull, second by Ross to go into Executive Session for a Student Issue (SDCL 1-25-2-2). President Weiderhold called the Board out of Executive Session at 6:26p.m.

AUDIENCE WITH INDIVIDUALS: Travis Eckert provided a thank you certificate and gift from Hill City Youth Athletics for support from the District.

~Aimee Peyregne-Preparing for audit, lots of changes for September payroll and Sheri is on vacation so District Office with have limited service this week
~Mike Hanson-467 student enrollment; 2018-2019 Budget being worked

OLD BUSINESS: After reviewing quote for new Food Service appliances, Motion by Welu, second by Ross to approve purchase.

NEW BUSINESS: Motion by Ross, second by Krull to approve Certified Faculty Graduate Credit Hours; Motion by Welu, second by Ross to appoint Krull as ASBSD Legislative Action Network Representative; Motion by Krull, second by Ross to approve purchase of BoardDocs web based platform; First reading of Board Policy ABAA and GCDB; Motion by Welu, second by Krull to approve disposal of surplus equipment; Motion by Welu, second by Ross to approve teacher timesheet for AP Bootcamp

DISCUSSION: Personalized learning implementation; 2017-2018 Budget

EXECUTIVE SESSION: Motion by Welu, second by Ross to go into Executive Session for Legal (SDCL 1-25-2-3) and Negotiations (SDCL 1-25-2-4). President Weiderhold called the Board out of Executive Session at 8:57p.m.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for October 9, 2017, at 6:00 p.m.

ADJOURN MEETING: Motion by Krull, second by Welu, to adjourn the meeting at 8:57 pm.
